Multiblade saws

They are used for sawing two- and four-stranded timber into sawn boards. They are second row machines and are widely used in the modernisation of sawmills by replacing sawmill frames. The machine has a strong frame, at least four bottom and two top driven grooved rollers, with a shaft diameter of at least 80 mm. Excellent geometry of the obtained edged boards, high cleanliness of the cut surface.

Continuous trimming and sorting lines

Designed for clean trimming of edged and unedged boards to standard lengths. They are manufactured in different capacities for all production volumes. The trimmers can be used as part of sorting lines, equipped with bag splitters, bag stackers and other mechanisms. We can also offer a straight cutter for cutting logs, a straight cutter with a third moving saw, an end aligner for boards and workpieces. They can be mounted on a concrete floor and delivered by any kind of transport. The sorting lines are necessary for the final processing of the lumber. They are completed according to the depth of finish of the lumber supplied. The composition of the sorting line is determined by the specification.

They are needed to separate sawmill waste into fractions according to size:

sawdust — up to 5 mm;
fine chips — 5…10 mm;
medium chips — 15…20 mm;
coarse fraction (chips and shavings) — more than 30 mm.

Chopping and sawing line

The Optimist Group offers a sawing technology that differs from the conventional one. We chop the entire peripheral (humpback) part of the log into chips, while the central part is sawn into clean-cut boards.
There are prototypes (analogues) in Russia: LAPB-2 (Vologda Machine-Tool Plant), FBS-750 (Krasnoflot machine-building plant), UV-16 (Karl Liebknecht plant, St. Petersburg), Termite (Kirov), LFP(T) (Vologda).

Our main advantage is the use of original tapered end mills in addition to conventional saws. This allows a drastic increase in the feed rate during milling with the production of high-quality process chips (log debarking is required).

Technical specifications of FBL-18

FPL-18 line capacity (raw material) — 150 m3/shift
Sawdust and wood chips account for approx. 50% of the volume

  • solid waste volume = 0.5∙150 ≈ 75 m3/shift;
  • Bulk waste volume = 3∙Vpl. = 3∙75 = 225 m3/shift

Required quantity of raw materials (per 1 shift)

  • X = 150 m3/cm∙250∙0.6 = 22500 m3 Here 0.6 is the average load factor per year

This raw material is used to produce:

  • Lumber = 0.4∙X = 0.4∙22500 = 9000 m3
  • bulk wood chips and sawdust = 0.5∙3∙X = 33750 m3/year bulk waste or 225 m3/shift

Cost of materials received

  • 54,000,000 roubles/year
  • 6,750,000 roubles/year (waste)

Costs (indicative):

  • raw material = 22500∙1200 = 27 000 000 roubles
  • Electricity = 7 RUB ∙160∙8∙250 = 2,240,000
  • salary = 5 persons ∙25000∙12 = 1,500,000 roubles
  • taxes ≈ 3,000,000 roubles.
  • Spare parts + tool = 2 500 000 roubles.
  • value of the building = 10,000,000 roubles.
  • cost of the line ≈ 8 000 000 roubles

Profit = 16,510,000 — from the sawmill is a very good figure, the line pays for itself in a year of operation.

A cut-and-finish line as part of the township heating programme:

The Arkhangelsk region is one of the forested regions of Russia, where wood has been used for heating homes for centuries. During Soviet times, the planned economy system brought in large quantities of coal, oil and a gas pipeline. Nowadays, the focus is on the use of wood, a local renewable fuel. There are programmes to re-equip coal-fired boilers, and modern automated sawdust and woodchip boilers are being built.

By-products from the milling and chipping line (chips and sawdust) can serve as fuel for the village’s boiler plant of up to 6 MW capacity.

The local (municipal) authorities should have a vested interest in establishing and supporting a multi-profile logging enterprise, which is also involved in the generation of heat for the housing and utilities sector and in road construction and maintenance. This provides employment for the population and a tax base to maintain the municipality. Such an enterprise is also interested in coordinated work for the benefit of the local population.

Circular saw line for sawing large logs (Dk ≤ 40 cm)

  • A bundle of logs is fed to the loading conveyor, the logs are spread out in a layer not exceeding 0.5 m.
  • The logs fall into a pit, from there the chain stops feed them one by one into the log saw edger, edger and the log saw chain stops push them through the saws to produce a double edged beam, 2 side edged boards and 2 slabs.
  • Boards and slabs fall on the cross conveyor and are pulled up to the edger.
  • Business lumber and boards are trimmed, the slats fall down and the trimmed blanks are dumped on the sorting conveyor.
  • The cut slabs are lifted onto a roller table and split into planks.
  • The double-edged timber is pushed lengthways, falls onto the plate, is centred in the post axis and is sawn into planks in the multi-saw.
  • The entire cut falls onto the sorting conveyor.
  • Sawdust can be removed by pneumatic suction or scraper conveyors.
