Production process:

Working experience has shown that the first step towards ensuring durability of paint-lacquer coatings is the following the International Maritime Organization (IMO) recommendations and ISO standards for quality of protective coatings when developing technological documentation for cleaning and painting works. Qualified technologist and certified inspector, being an integral part of overall product quality assurance system based on ISO standards, provide full end-to-end control of painting works.

Painters conducting painting works are trained and retrained in accordance with the approved program meeting the requirements of the Shipping Register Rules. The company mainly applies the products of JOTUN Coatings — the holder of the Certificate of Conformity in the field of quality management in part of development, production and sale of paintwork products, approved by the Shipping Register. In cooperation with the company’s representatives, the ship painters are periodically get certified. The painting area is fully supported by the company’s regulatory and technical documentation and standards.

Quality control at working area:

The area is managed by a certified specialist with a Certificate of Conformity in the field of nondestructive testing. The inspector of II qualification level on quality control of painting works monitors the following parameters at the site:

  • degree of preparation of steel surface according to ISO 8501;
  • soluble corrosion and salt products content on prepared surface according to ISO 8502;
  • condensation probability according to ISO 8502;
  • surface roughness according to ISO 8503;
  • degree of coating destruction according to ISO 4628;
  • film thickness according to ISO 2808;
  • adhesion by cross-cut method according to ISO 2409;
  • adhesion by pull-out method according to ISO 4624;
  • continuity of coatings according to NACE RPO 188.
